Timber Frame Raising May 2007; 32’ by 56’ Two story Greenhouse / Pool addition in Lakeville, CT. Douglas fir frame with a Watco oil finish.
A very interesting project. The original design for this structure was done by an architect with no prior timber frame experience. The owner ordered all the timbers and set his regular carpenters loose. The project quickly went off track from a combination of poor design and lack of timber frame joinery skills, the owner halted work with little accomplished. A year latter the owner found me through the Timber Framers Guild. I redesigned the frame and then cut all the joinery in the owners workshop over a three month period. We then erected the frame in one marathon 13 hour day. The frame seems small only because it’s dwarfed by the four story renovated barn it’s next to.
